This is an in-depth experience of creating Done up North style furniture designs along with Nicky at the Studio in Leeds.
This weekend course takes you right through the process of transforming a tired, old piece of furniture from start to finish and even through to a photo shoot at the end.
You'll walk away with an unique creation plus a wealth of knowledge and confidence to go on to create many more.
It's a fun, informal but information packed workshop quite unlike any other with an emphasis on stripping and finishing wood beautifully and creating unique geometric designs by hand.
The course covers the following
- Sourcing and understanding vintage furniture
- In-depth prep including stripping and priming
- Repairing your furniture including filling
- How to paint with a smooth modern, professional finish
- Planning your new design
- Masking tape design application techniques
- Understanding different products available
- Understanding and applying protective finishes
- Refinishing, fitting and replacing hardware
- Styling and photographing your furniture
- Useful advice and tips on Furniture Refinishing as a business
Class sizes are capped to make sure you get plenty of hands on help and guidance over the weekend.

All paint supplies and tools required for the class
Protective equipment such as aprons, gloves and dust masks
Refreshments, lunch and snacks
Attending the workshop:
You simply need to bring an un-painted medium size piece of furniture to work on and any replacement or additional fittings you wish to add to your piece, plus any design inspiration.
As an example, a small chest of drawers would be a good size to fully experience all the different stages in a weekend. The smaller, the more time you have to explore the design & finishing techniques.
While you don't need to have experience, you will be able to take your knowledge further on this course if you have already had some experience of furniture painting and can start from that point.
There is plenty of parking and the Studio is fully accessible.

Full payment is required in advance before attending.
The workshops are non-refundable if you are unable to attend and we aren't able to fill your place. If you are unable to attend please notify us as soon as you can.
We reserve the right to re-schedule a workshop if numbers are too low to make it viable to run or will offer to transfer any bookings to other available dates.
An administration fee of 10% will be retained from any refunds given.
