WEEKEND WORKSHOP: Rehab your Bedside - Get Done Up @ Make.

This workshop will get you started on with the essential techniques you need to renew and revive old furniture.

You'll upcycle a bedside cabinet (or small chest of drawers) with a new, exciting design and get to enjoy the whole transformation process and the benefits it bring to you, your home and living a more sustainable lifestyle. 

You'll Learn:

• How to assess your furniture and decide your design and process
• How to make any minor repairs and prepare the surfaces well ready for new finishes
• Different techniques for stripping wood to restore it
• How to use stains and  finishing products to bring out the best in the wood
• How to paint your furniture and get a really smooth finish
• Different ways you can add design to your furniture, like tape design, stencilling, decoupage and metallic accents
• How to update handles and other fittings

There's help on hand if you need some inspiration in terms of design, but you may find you surprise yourself...   The idea is to enjoy the process and enjoy exploring whatever YOU like!

Revamping what you already have and rescuing things from ending up in landfill isn't just good for the Planet, it's great for your wellbeing too. 

The whole process of transforming and creating something with your own hands is as absorbing as it is rewarding. 

And, of course it's a great way to inject individuality and interest and make your home more personal and more meaningful.

All you need is a small un-painted bedside cabinet and we'll provide the rest. 
(If you can lift it easily with two hands alone you're probably about right size-wise)

If you would like to use decoupage as part of your design, then please bring along your chosen wallpaper too.

Workshop start / finish: 10.30am - 4.30pm both days.
